What is your average day like at The Jewish Board?
No day is average! I could be meeting with staff for individual or group supervision, leading our weekly TST model consultation, conducting home visits, reviewing notes, managing crises – the list goes on!
What is your favorite part about the work you do?
I really enjoy forming positive connections with my coworkers and clients – it’s so critical to have a human touch and make sure others know I’m rooting for them and supporting them. It’s truly an honor to hear the stories our clients and therapists share, and to accompany them on their journeys.
Why do you think the value “Treat Every Person with Dignity” is so important?
Treating Every Person with Dignity is a crucial reminder that we are providing services to and engaging with people, not numbers – dignity is what we all deserve. Social work and human services can be quite thankless, tiring, and challenging, and being patient, understanding, and kind to one another goes a long way in counteracting these factors. Everyone deserves to be valued, seen, and respected – this makes a significant difference to our clients and everyone we work with, at all levels.
What song or album do you listen to when you need a burst of energy?
Anything with a great beat that makes me feel like dancing! Some go-tos are Celia Cruz’s “La Vida es un Carnaval,” Lake Street Dive’s “Call off your Dogs,” and Beyonce’s “Break My Soul.”
