What is your average day like at The Jewish Board?

Every day is different! Normally, I complete administrative tasks in the morning and reserve the afternoons for sessions with clients. Today’s families are in the Bronx and Staten Island. Depending on the day, I will travel to clients’ homes, our Community Residences, or other locations they prefer.

What is your favorite part about the work you do?

I love doing community-based work and meeting clients where they are—both literally and figuratively. This approach allows me to hold sessions in homes, workplaces, libraries, schools, hospitals, and clinics. It’s a privilege to bridge so many different worlds and partner with families as they navigate the complex systems throughout the city. Every day brings a new opportunity to build meaningful connections in a variety of settings.

Why do you think the value “Embrace Each Other’s Differences” is so important?

To me, the key word in “Embrace Each Other’s Differences” is embrace. It goes beyond tolerance or even acceptance—it calls us to actively and compassionately reach out to those who are different from us. The word “embrace” makes me think of people from all backgrounds and perspectives coming together in a warm, welcoming hug. That image reminds me of the kind of community I want to help create.

What song or album do you listen to when you need a burst of energy?

My favorite song to help me feel positive and hopeful is I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free by Nina Simone. That song always makes me want to dance and sing! 🕺
