Javier, Case Manager
Learn how Javier's experience helping his family growing up connects him to the work he does today, and why it's important to treat every client with dignity.
What initially made you want to get into this field?
I’ve always liked helping others. I grew up in a family not all that different from the clients I work with today, so I have an intimate knowledge of the needs of the community I serve. This helps us establish trust, an important part of working well together.
What’s an average day like for you at The Jewish Board?
An average day for me at The Jewish Board is Zoom meetings, home visits, and notes. However, every day is its own adventure in this field, and many things can come up.
What’s your favorite part about the work you do?
My favorite part of my work is the rewarding feeling I get when I see clients improve and progress in their mental health recovery and goals.
Which of The Jewish Board’s core Values resonates with you most? Why?
Treating every person with dignity resonates the most with me because treating every individual like they are important and not like a statistic makes such a huge impact on your ability to engage with them and the communities we serve as a whole.
You spend so much time caring for others; what’s one way you practice self-care? Vacations!
I love to travel the world and visited Thailand earlier this year.
What’s the last song you listened to?
