Family Support

Strong families are the basis of strong communities.

Sometimes, families need help to improve communication, build trust, and grow together.

At The Jewish Board, we provide intervention, counseling, and treatment for families facing issues like divorce, repeated conflicts with children, family violence, or loss. Our social workers and therapists help families heal and thrive together in a setting that works best for them—at home, in our clinics across the city, or in shelters—to prevent further fractures in the family structure.

Care that works for YOU.

ACCESSIBLE

Our intake team will connect you to experienced staff at a program located throughout the five boroughs who will help assess your needs and set up services.

PERSONALIZED

Our care plans are individualized to provide you the best care possible. Our team speaks a wide range of languages, including English, Spanish, Russian, and Haitian Creole.

DIVERSE

We serve people of diverse religions, races, gender identities, sexual orientations, and physical and intellectual abilities, and accept Medicaid and most major insurance plans.

Supporting families and keeping them together is what we do.

What do we help families with?

Our work supports the entire family, and through our services, we collaborate to:

  • Improve communication about difficult subjects.
  • Manage family stressors, mental health conditions, or behavioral issues through therapy (OLP), community psychiatric support and treatment (CPST), and solution-focused support.
  • Strengthen parenting skills and manage education issues.
  • Cope with the impact of loss experienced through death, divorce, incarceration, or immigration.
  • Handle marital difficulties.
  • Face issues of family and community violence.
  • Navigate other services, including housing, public assistance, SSI, and early intervention, as well as linkage to community resources.
  • Help youth who have aged out of New York City’s foster care system.

Who is ELIGIBLE?

We provide family-focused services regardless of a person’s ability to pay–this includes the underserved, those with little to no income, and those who are uninsured or on Medicaid. We also provide care to active-duty military personnel and veterans. We accept most major insurance plans.
