Our Strategic Plan

New York is constantly evolving, and we are continually innovating in response to the changing needs of New Yorkers.

For 150 years, The Jewish Board and its predecessor organizations have played an important role in providing essential services to those in need. Originally a leader in serving the Jewish immigrant community in the 19th century, we’ve grown to be a major provider of mental health and social services for New Yorkers.

To lay the groundwork for another exciting 150 years of care, we developed a four-pillar strategic plan to help us navigate an increasingly complex operating environment and continue or legacy of being a national leader in the delivery of mental health and social services.

The four pillars of our Strategic Plan provides a framework for our work: building a model of mental health and social service care delivery that empowers New Yorkers and their communities, inspiring better care delivery nationwide.

Operational Excellence

We are developing standard operating models for all programs and support departments, increasing the centralization and standardization of business and clinical operations, and optimizing our safety models for clients and staff.

Expert Workforce/Learning

We are building a career development model that supports continuous professional growth, developing best-in-class internships, residencies, and fellowships, and cultivating a culture of equity and inclusivity.

Financial Sustainability

We are developing a strategic finance framework, including financial modeling, to better forecast program needs and enhancing our cost reduction and revenue optimization strategies to ensure we are operating at a fiscally responsible manner.

Robust Advocacy

We are developing a public policy agenda that highlights the importance of social services and advocates for better wages for front-line workers and working with communities where we are located to ensure their needs from us are fully met.
