Telehealth at The Jewish Board

I got into this field after having an internship in my undergrad program that supported homeless youth. I was a peer mentor, and the joy and happiness I felt watching my students achieve their goals was a high point for me and really influenced my decision to make this my career. The feeling of pride I felt for them, watching their resilience and self-confidence increase, was such a rewarding feeling that I knew I wanted to help others along their own personal journeys through social work.

I was drawn to the field of social work because I’ve always had a genuine passion for helping others. I’ve always been deeply committed to making a positive impact and advocating for those who face challenges. As someone who has lived in and spent time in New York City’s underserved communities, I see how life’s stressors have negatively affected New Yorkers, with a disproportionate effect on people of color. I want to play my part and do what I can to support people who do not receive the help and attention they deserve.

I always knew that I wanted to work with people in a meaningful way. I was drawn to social work because of the multifaceted ways I could use my skills to reach those in need and make an impact. Being a social worker is more than a day job: it is a mission. I am humbled to have had the opportunity to train and nurture countless therapists and supervisors, to grow and develop professionally, and to create programs that reach so many vulnerable populations. For me, just changing the life of one person is enough, and we get to do that every day.
