Healing Hearts, Building Hope

The Lev Initiative

The Lev Initiative helps Jewish people, families, and children impacted by intimate partner violence, also known as domestic violence. Our care is grounded in Jewish values and community. Our counseling and group support helps people process trauma, build confidence, and reclaim their lives. We want people to not only survive, but thrive.

Our Supports

Learn about what The Lev Initiative brings to the community in partnership with Amudim, Met Council, NYLAG, Shalom Task Force, and UJA-Federation New York.

Our professional staff use proven, evidence-based care that respects Jewish values and traditions. Together, we help Jewish survivors of intimate partner violence and their families:

  • Create a safe, welcoming space to talk with each other.
  • Find a community to share experiences and support.
  • Strengthen relationships and build understanding.
  • Connect their Jewish values and traditions to their healing journey.
  • Provide tools and resources to help with future needs.

Our care is rooted in Jewish life. It includes:

  • Individual and group counseling
  • Groups for survivors to share experiences and support each other
  • Workshops that help you heal, cope, and plan for your safety
  • Connections to Jewish resources and supports
  • Help finding additional legal, housing, and community resources

If you need a safe place for you and your family, The Jewish Board has domestic violence shelters. Our staff understands Kosher and religious needs.
